What to expect at your clinic appointment

What to bring to your visit:

  • Referral letter from your GP, Optometrist or referring health practitioner
  • Prescription spectacles
  • Sunglasses (to reduce glare after your pupils are dilated)
  • List of medications and medical history
  • Medicare card
  • Health insurance details

At the appointment:

Once you have checked in, your vision and eye pressure will be recorded. Usually your pupils will then be dilated so that your retina can be examined. A photograph of your retina and macula will likely then be taken. Dr Apel will review your history and thoroughly examine your eyes. Additional diagnostic testing and ocular imaging is sometimes required, which will usually be performed at the same visit. Dr Apel will then plan treatment and discuss your management with you.
