Epiretinal Membrane

• Epiretinal membranes are scar tissue that forms on the central part of the retina called the macula.
• They can occur with increasing age and can also be caused by inflammation, diabetes or trauma.
• Common symptoms include blurred vision and distortion where lines can appear disjointed or letters in a word may be missing.
• Epiretinal membranes can be removed during day surgery to improve symptoms.
